Tuesday Night was a big night for Florida Boy, Jake Owen. He was presented with the prestigious Arnie Award along side Payton Manning and Phil Mickelson as part of Golf Digest’s annual “Golfers Who Give Back” event during the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament in California. This award is named after the late golfing legend Arnold Palmer and is given to to recognize golfers who give back. Previous celebrities who’ve been recognized include Stephen Curry, Michael Phelps, Morgan Freeman, and Michael J. Foxand Jake Owen said “I don’t do things for awards, but this is by far the most humbling thing I could ever achieve.” Owen’s parents, Steve and Mitzi Owen, were also in the audience for Tuesday night’s ceremony.

Owen got a little emotional after legendary sports broadcaster Jim Nantz called him to the stage to accept to the award. Jake said, “I don’t do things for awards, but this is by far the most humbling think I could ever achieve.” Jake also opened up about what the Arnie Award means to him in a lengthy message on Instagram. “Last night was literally one of the greatest moments in my life. I was awarded “The Arnie Award”… I also received this amazing honor last night with two people I’ve always admired and looked up to…Phil Mickelson and Peyton Manning. The award is not only near and dear to my heart because of the great Arnold Palmer, (who is probably the most respected athlete in history) but also because it’s given to golfers that “give back.” My work with my foundation “The Jake Owen Foundation,” has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever been involved with. To me, life isn’t about awards. It’s not about money. At the end of this beautiful life, none of that matters. What matters is, the kind of person you are. Your character. Your legacy. What have YOU done for others? Arnold Palmer left a lasting legacy and I couldn’t be more proud to have my name in the same sentence as his. I’m forever humbled.”
