The 52nd Annual ACM Awards were definitely one for the books on Sunday night. The performances were amazing, the artists looked great and it seemed as though everyone had a great time! Nobody really dominated the awards but there were a few people who walked away with more than one awards. Miranda Lambert won her 8th Top Female Vocalist of the Year awards and she won Album of the year for her most recent album “The Weight of These Wings” while also Thomas Rhett brought home two awards for Top Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the year for “Die a Happy Man”. Brothers Osborne won Top Vocal Duo of the Year along with (previously announced) Best New Duo/Group of the Year. And to top off the night, Jason Aldean walked away with his second consecutive Entertainer of the Year award.
Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley hosted for the second year in a row, and they actually did a pretty good job this year with the little one liners and jokes they had rehearsed. Especially with the pre recorded little videos they did, including the one of them with no shirts on at the “Thunder Down Under” male review.
The entire ACM awards opened with a big musical number that featured all the Entertainer of the Year nominees (Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, and Florida Georgia Line) and Dierks Bentley and ended with Luke and Dierks singing with Joe Walsh to honor Chuck Berry with the song “Johnny B. Goode”.
Miranda Lambert performed her new song “Tin Man” and got a standing ovation from her fellow artists and Chris Stapleton wooed the crowd with his performance of “Second One to Know”. Then you have your duo performances of Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris doing their new song “Craving you” and Tim and Faith singing their newest single “Speak to a Girl”. To close out the entire show, Florida Georgia Line and the Backstreet Boys killed it with their song “God, Your Momma and Me” while mixing in Backstreet Boys’ “Yeah” to finish off a perfect night.
