As we know Carrie Underwood’s husband is a retired hockey player (one of the best). Also, Carrie is a huge supporter of NFL. She’s surrounded by sports left and right. Fans who watched NBC’s recent Sunday Night Football opener got to see Carrie Underwood debut the new opening segment featuring the theme song “Oh, Sunday Night,” but the revamped intro isn’t the only football-related project Carrie’s been working on.
According to Variety, Underwood has written a special song titled “The Champion,” which will be featured in the intro for NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl 52 in February.
And Underwood admits that she had some pretty good ears to test the new tune out on. Carrie says she played the song for her husband — retired hockey star Mike Fisher — and he “loved it.” She says, “He would listen to it before playoff games. He was like ‘I want everyone to hear it!’ and I had to tell him, ‘You can’t do that. You can’t play it in the locker room. I’m sorry.'” Even though Mike played the song for his Nashville Predators teammates before Underwood would’ve liked, she says it served as a good indicator that they were on the right track.
