This is happening too much. Another country star has experienced a bus fire, and while none of these incidents are good, this one could have ended incredibly badly.

Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox and his brother, Kevin, were making their way to Louisiana for a weekend of wintry hunting when the tour bus they were traveling in caught fire.

In video on his Instagram page, Gary can be heard explaining the situation as smoke pours up through the galley of the bus and into the cab. Obviously very grateful that they escaped without injury, he writes, “My bus caught on fire this [morning] on my way to a hunting trip. My brother Kevin and I got out. It happened so quick and could have been a different story if the ammunition would have caught fire. What a way to start 2018. Thank you lord for your covering this mornin!

In a second post, Gary shares an image of their gear on the side of the road next to a bus, and the heartbroken singer writes, “Not where I was wanting to watch the sunrise.”

It is uncertain if the bus pictured is the one that caught fire or if that’s a rescue vehicle, but no damage is apparent in that photo. Typically though, these fires have taken place in the rear of the bus, and that wouldn’t be evident in this photo.

This is the first tour bus fire of 2018, but it seems as if these incidents have been taking place entirely too often. Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Randy Houser, Jerrod Niemann, Toby Keith, Canaan Smith and Chris Lane have all experienced frightening bus fires in recent years, and who can forget the flames that destroyed Lady Antebellum’s tour bus carrying Hillary Scott? As devastating as that fire was, it miraculously left her personal Bible only singed.

Fortunately, Rascal Flatts is not scheduled to get back out on the road until February, which allows time for repairing and restoring the vehicle, if possible, or replacing it if necessary before their Feb. 15 date at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. The band has made no announcements yet regarding a major headlining tour for 2018, but they have been touring consistently for more than 15 consecutive years as either a supporting act or headliners, as well as playing a Las Vegas residency last year, so they could be taking a break for a few months.

Rascal Faltts released their 10th studio album, “Back to Us,” in May of 2017, and it has already produced one No. 1 with the debut single, “Yours If You Want It.” They released the second single from the project, the title track, in late August.

We’re sure relieved to hear that Gary and Kevin escaped this terrifying incident unharmed and wish them and all of our traveling and touring country stars safe travels and Godspeed.
