Country singer and reality star Jessie James Decker announced back in October that she was expecting her third child, sharing an adorable Instagram video to break the news. Since then, she has been documenting her pregnancy on social media with sweet pictures of her growing baby bump.
This time, though, Jessie went above and beyond to celebrate the joys of motherhood and womanhood with the release of a new music video for her empowering single, “Flip My Hair.”
In this video, the 29-year-old wife of Tennessee Titans player Eric Decker, who is almost 29 weeks along, can be seen prancing around in a sexy, black bodysuit that exposes her pregnant curves. Four other women accompany her, and they all proudly display baby bumps of their own while dressed in the same form-fitting outfit. Together, the confident group of ladies offers up a sassy, choreographed routine, which includes the snapping of fingers, shaking of hips and the fierce tossing of hair from one side to the other. At one point, Jessie’s precious daughter, 3-year-old Vivianne, makes a cameo and boogies to the beat in a cheerleader outfit alongside her mama.
Even though the clip looks like a whole lot of fun, celebrities are often judged by their decisions. And, because Jessie is pregnant and dancing in her video, she’s had to deal with some negative comments. So, she took to Instagram to make clear her reasons for making the video when she did.
“I knew I wanted to make a music video for this song as soon as I wrote it,” she said. “When the question of ‘when’ I wanted to shoot it came about, I thought to myself, ‘Do I wait after I have the baby and get my body in perfect shape like I’m supposed to? Or do I just embrace where I am at [in] my life, pregnant with my third baby?’ The answer came easily after sleeping on it. I said, ‘We are shooting a music video even though I am six months pregnant and we will rock this shit!’
“I’ve already read some of your comments stating that it’s weird or it makes you uncomfortable or that other successful country female artists would never do this,” she continued. “Well, if it makes you uncomfortable then that’s your own issue. As far as other successful country artists not doing this? You’re damn right … I am my own artist and I will continue to express myself in my own way. I’ve never felt sexier or more confident than I did during this music video shoot. I wanted to showcase that no matter where you are at in your life, shape, or size you can exude that confidence and sexuality in your womanhood! I won’t dive deep into the meaning of the lyrics except that I’m sure you can figure out for yourself how I was feeling when I wrote this song! Now girls, take any of that negativity or any of the haters and #flipyourhair.”
Now that’s powerful!
Fans can find “Flip Your Hair” on Jessie’s “Southern Girl City Lights” album. She is due to give birth to her third child and second son in March.
